One of the maid of honor's/best man's major responsibilities is to plan the bachelor/bachelorette party or bridal shower.
Before handing out the invites, quiz the bride/groom
about whom she/he would want to share the night with. Also obtain
suggestions for the degree of formality, activities and attire.
Whether the bride decides to let her hair down and have an outrageous
party, host a traditional bridal shower or spend a pampering day at the
spa, accomodate those wishes. The same goes with the groom. He may
prefer to go to abaseball game with close buddies or go toa strip club.
Not all brides/grooms are comfortable with male exotic dancers, so
avoid an uncomfortable situation by checking with the bride/groom, and
in some cases, his or her fiance before hiring one.
Even if a night of drunken debauchery is not your style, you can
still let your hair loose by giving the gag gifts or lingerie. Other
mood-lightening activities include trivia games to test the bride's
knowledge of the groom's personality. (Test her knowlegde, then play
the groom's prerecorded answers.)
It is best not to plan the party the night before the wedding. There
is nothing worse than taking photographs on the most important day in
one's life looking hungover or tired. Make transportation arrangements
for the entire party, so that no one will be tempted to drive home after
a night of drinking.
