Planning a Corporate Function
When planning your corporate function, you must first figure out a
budget then decide what is the main reason for the event. Is it your
annual conference? Is it a celebration for existing clients? Or are you
trying to make an impression on potential clients? Once you have nailed
down the reason for the event you need to then choose a theme. For
corporate functions this will run along ideas like a Dinner Party, a
Luncheon, or a Brunch. Once you have decided on that you then need to
decide where you would like to have the event, a good choice would be at
a hotel conference center. If you have it at a nice hotel you can
usually get catering and use of the conference room as a package deal.
If it is close to the airport it makes it very convenient for clients
that are traveling. Now its time to think about the other vendors you
will need. If you are not going to use an on site caterer then you will
need to find a good caterer that can create a menu to your
specifications. You may also want to consider an Event Planner, flowers
(for centerpieces) a band or DJ, a motivational speaker, a photographer,
Printing shop for programs/banners, etc. Your choice for vendors will
depend greatly on what type of event you are having. If you are
throwing a dinner party you may want to have dancing and champagne. If
you are having a luncheon/conference then you may want to have a
motivational speaker, and a good caterer, etc.
Once you have chosen the vendors read over all the contracts carefully and make sure they all work with in your budget. After that start working on a time line for the events leading up to the main event and for the day of. Once you have this time line finalized send copies of it to the appropriate vendors so they have an understanding of how things should flow. Make sure that all the speakers and your management team also receive a copy of this time line, so that the event goes as planned.
Closer to the date contact your vendors and confirm with them the date, time, menus and flow of events. Work with your on-site coordinator to make sure that tables and chairs are going to be setup for you at the specific time you request. Make sure that you will have all the necessary tools that you will need such as outlets, microphones, a projector screen, etc.

Corporate Events are interesting to plan (to say the least). The corporate events that I’ve planned have all had the same issue BUDGET. When you first met with your contact, please make them commit to a budget. Most clients try to stray away from this topic, however, you must make them settle on the most expensive amount they want to spend. Once you are able to nail down a budget, then you’ll have the ability to call on those vendors that will allow you to gain the most profit.
After your client has given you a budget, have them email you their needs and desires. I have found that you have less room for error when the client communicates to you what they want for their event. Many clients believe they have told you what they want for their event, and the day of, if you do not produce, they will blame you – this is why written communication is vital. You will eliminate confusion if you have their needs and desires written out prior to giving a proposal. Once you’ve analyzed what will work best for their event, found vendors (that will do a great job and render you the best profit) and given a proposal, you then want to execute your event. I cannot stress enough to have the best vendors possible. The better your vendors, the better you look.

Anniversaries are a special time to celebrate with your love ones. When I plan intimate anniversary celebrations for my couples, I have them utilize their imagination. I first ask, what is your dream vacation for you and your significant other? Once they have shared this information with me, I then plan a special day incorporating those unique elements.
If the couple’s dream vacation is Italy, I would first book a gondola ride for the two of them. This ride would be equipped with a fruit and cheese basket, wine and gondolier. Once they’ve completed their ride, a private car would then whisk them off to a small quaint Italian restaurant where a private room will be waiting for them with every element of Venice. Remember, planning a great anniversary doesn’t take tons of money, just a great imagination.

Milestone Birthdays Don't Have To Cost A Mountain of Money
Kids grow up fast - much too fast, for some parents!
You probably remember the significance of all birthdays when you were a child - the importance of growing another year older meant you were that much closer to growing up. It's sad to say, but childhood now bears little resemblance to the way children grew up just twenty or thirty years ago. There are different pressures, different technologies to learn and master, and different situations on almost every personal level.
Because kids have so much to do even while just trying to grow up safely, the milestone birthday is an event doubly worth celebrating. Planning their party or festivities doesn't have to be expensive, but the event you host should show your pride and joy at watching them become a new person.
1. Figure out how many guests are really necessary.
It's unwise and unwieldy to invite twenty or thirty guests to you child's party - it's also tremendously expensive!
Determine how many guests need to be invited - including the child's friends, your friends, and all the family members. Narrowing your guest list means less supplies and food to buy and less preparation time.
2. Use the space that makes the most sense.
Planning a party at a roller skating arena doesn't make financial sense if only a few guests will actually skate. Instead, review your guest list and find a space that can make all of them comfortable. The family backyard is always nice, or a picnic at a public park. The money you save in such locations can be spent on presents for the birthday child.
3. Give gifts that commemorate the occasion.
They'll no doubt have gift suggestions of their own, but a milestone birthday deserves a special keepsake gift. Personalization is also a lovely addition to the gift, so that they have it as a souvenir of the birthday it was given for years to come.
4. Hold the party early in the day, so it can last all afternoon long.
This does limit your choices to the holidays or the weekend, but it's worth it to prolong the party's time, especially if you plan to invite a lot of kids. You'll also probably have more choices of venue if you hold the party around eleven or noon, too.

The best tip there is for a birthday party or any other occasion party
is to never go beyond your means. What I mean is that you do not have
to spend more money than you can really afford to have a very nice
party. Expensive doesn't always mean the best. In today's rising cost
of just about everything, it doesn't hurt to pinch a penny here and
there if you can. If a less expensive item serves the purpose, there's
nothing wrong with that.

Shall We Dance!
I find a lot of 40 and 50 something individuals celebrating their
birthdays would love to have hand or line dancing at their parties but
don’t due to the lack of party goers that know how to do the dances.
The solution to this problem for me has been to ask the DJ doing the
event or contact a dance studio to provide instructions and sometimes a
few dance partners to encourage more guests out onto the floor.
[Negotiate with the dance studio by suggesting they would be getting
free publicity along with the reduced price for an hour of instruction.]
It truly makes for a much livelier event and the guests have something special to take home with them.

Green Birthday Tips
We all know that it is our individual responsibility to consider our
environmental impact and make changes towards reducing our footprint on
the planet. We are replacing our light bulbs, recycling, bringing our
own bags grocery shopping and so on and so forth.
But did you know that your next big birthday bash could be both environmentally and socially responsible? Here are ten things you can do to benefit your environment and community while partying like a rock star!
1. Choose a location whose rental fees will benefit the community at large like a museum, park, historic home, not for profit.
2. Make sure your venue is close to public transportation and that your guests are made aware of this fact. You can even offer a special present for those who take public transportation such as a free subway pass or a recycled grocery bag.
3. To reduce paper consumption and printing costs create a minimal invite on recycled paper or a re-usable item like a branded packet of forget me not seeds directing guests to an event webpage with all of the details including car pooling and public transportation routes.
4. Cut down on cut flowers…hire a local artist to create centerpieces (recycled materials, found art sculptures) then raffle or auction them off to guests.
5. Go vegetarian (or more vegetarian) This is not only good for the animals it will also help cut down on ozone depleting methane gas production.
6. Recognize and appreciate your designated drivers…a special raffle or fresh fruit juice bar
7. Set up recycling stations and include clear and easy to follow instructions of what goes where.

Planning your child's Birthday Party!
When you decide to plan a birthday party for your child remember that it
is all about them. Try to see the party from their point of view, this
will help you in planning the event and making it something that they
will enjoy. First decide on a budget, you will need to include an
estimate of how many children will be coming to the party. Then decide
how much food, cake and favors to purchase and include this in your
budget. Second, decide on a theme. Try to pick something that your
child is very into at the moment, like a cartoon or Pirates, Unicorns,
etc.
Try asking your child or noticing what excites them on TV or at the store. After you have picked out the theme of the party decide where you want to throw it, at your house, an arcade, park, etc. Once you have decided where, then it is time to choose when. Pick your date wisely making sure there are no other events going on that may conflict with the party. Now, it's time to send out invitations that match the theme of the party. Decide on a menu, usually for kids parties this should be pizza or something very simple and then include the cake and ice cream. Make sure the cake, favors and decorations go with the theme of the party as well. For the favors, candy and noisemakers go a long way just put them in cellophane bags and hand them out as kids leave.
Games and entertainment will make the party so plan a few and make them fun. Some good ideas are Twister, board games, balloon toss, water gun fights, etc. I would plan to play the games that are going to wear the kids out the most that way they go home calm! Consider renting an inflatable jump zone or something like that, as well.

Have the Best Party Ever for Your Young Child
Birthdays are one of the magical days in a child's life. It is their
celebration when they are in the spotlight. Help make their day special
with a little advance planning. For preschool age children, make sure
that you have games and activities that meet their attention span.
Active games are great for this age group, like Duck, Duck, Goose.
Writing games will not succeed because they don't yet know how to read.
Face painting is very likely to be smeared but balloons will be a Hit!
Have an adequate number of helpers for a large group as they will be
running in all directions. Don't plan it over nap time if at all

Tips On Planning A Birthday Party
There is a definite way to planning a great birthday party. But not all
of us are born-party planners. Party planning doesn’t have to gave you a
head ache, no matter what type of party you want to have, or no matter
what budget you’ve set. Here are some basic, tricks to planning a
party. The right guests can make or break a party. When planning your
guest list, try to find a balance of just the right kinds of people.
Inviting a mixture of different types of people from your life this can
make for an interesting party. This means that your guest can meet new
people.
When deciding on the number of guests you want to invite remember how much the the place you have can hold and also what you can afford for food, drinks, etc
Do not ask your guest when they are available and when, just announce your party, if your party is less formal, a phone call is perfectly fine, also if you can, send your invitation email and do not forget to ask for an RSVP by a certain date. Whichever way you announce your party, be sure to let your guests know if there will be a theme.
Make sure to send out your invitations at least two weeks in advance. Always plan ahead that not everyone will respond even if they plan on coming. Spark your guests excitement and anticipation about your party. When it comes to the music and lighting this should be No #1 along with the food. Keep the music lyrics at a level where you will not offened anyone. Dim lighting is great if you are having your party at night and inside, if you do not have lighting you can have groups of candles placed around the house. You don’t necessarily have to buy decorations unless it’s a themed party, but a few bunches of flowers is always a nice touch.
Your job is not done when your guest arrived. Make your guest comfortable and not in need of anything, because your guests are important. Be the host or hostess, offer them a place to put their purses and coats. Introducing your guest to each other and how you know each other is a great icebreaker. Always keep the food refilled and the music playing.
Timed your mingling and hosting so that your can be available to enjoy your time with your guests.
Do not cause a party flop by running out of food, drinks,music and seats.
You don’t have to have a full-course meal, you can provide your guests with munchies and drinks. Assembling lots of food options rather than cooking a grand meal saves you a lot of time and effort.
Keep the atmosphere carefree and never let your guests know there is something wrong or how hard you have worked, and be creative with all elements of the party. Your guests will appreciate anything unconventional. Throwing a party is about seeing your friends, so have fun. Party on!
